Our river trips depart from our Vulcan MI outpost on U.S. Highway 2, approximately 3 miles east of Norway, MI, all trips leave exactly on their scheduled departure times. Head south on U.S. Highway 41 to the MI-95 junction. Turn left to head south on MI-95 towards Iron, Mountain, MI. In Iron Mountain, MI, turn left onto E MI-95/US-141/US-2. Continue on US 2 traveling east towards Norway, MI. Go through Norway, MI. We are past Norway in Vulcan on US 2, after you pass the Iron Mine look for the big concrete bear on the right or south side of the highway. The outpost is well marked, and will be on the right, or south side, of the road, park at our outpost.. If you reach the town of Loretto, MI, you have traveled too far and should turn around.
Head North towards Iron Mountain, MI on Interstate 43. Once you have gone through Green Bay, I-43 will split into Highways 41 and 141.
You can go either way after Green Bay WI, the lakeshore along 41 is beautiful but has traffic, 141 is quicker but lacks the scenery of the lakeshore.
Highway 41 directions
Head north along 41 towards Escanaba MI, turn left onto US 2 in Powers MI towards Iron Mountian MI. After Loretto will be Vulcan MI where our outpost is situated, look for the big concrete bear on the left or south side of the highway. Our outpost is clearly visible from there, park at the outpost. If you reach the town of Norway MI you have travelled too far and should turn around.
Highway 141 directions
Travel north on U.S. Highway 141. After passing through Pembine, WI, you will arrive at the intersection U.S. Highways 8 and 141. Stay on Turn onto HWY 8/ US 141 here and continue traveling north into Norway MI. At the intersection of HWY/US141 turn right onto US 2 traveling East towards Escanaba. Continue East on US 2 into Vulcan MI after the Iron Mine you will see a large concrete bear on the right side of the road. Our outpost is clearly visible from there, park at the outpost. If you reach the town of Loretto, MI you have traveled too far and should turn around.
Start out heading west towards Iron Mountain, MI, on U.S. Highway 2. After the town of Loretto, MI, on U.S. Highway 2 there will be a small town named Vulcan MI, look for the big concrete bear on the left side of the road in Vulcan MI just prior to the Iron Mine on the opposite side of the highway. Our outpost is just after the BP gas station and prior to the big bear on the same or south side of US 2 as the big bear is, park at the outpost. If you reach the town of Norway MI you have travelled too far and should turn around.
Go east towards Wisconsin on Interstate 35. I-35 will become U.S. Highway 8. Continue east on U.S. Highway 8 until U.S. Highway 8 converges with U.S. Highway 141 south of Pembine, WI. Turn left and travel North on U.S. Highway 141/U.S. Highway 8 towards Niagara, WI. Shortly before Niagara US 8/Hwy141 normally diverge, Highway 141 is under road construction however, so the detour route for 141 is, highway 8 presently. Either way follow the detour route/Highway 8 into Norway MI. In Norway MI, U.S. Highway 8 intersects with US 2 in Norway MI, turn right and head east on U.S. Highway 2 towards Escanaba MI. Travel east through Norway MI towards Vulcan MI. In Vulcan MI immediately after you pass the Iron Mine look for a big concrete bear on the right or south side of US 2, our shop is clearly visible from there, park at our outpost. If you enter the town of Loretto MI, you have traveled too far and should turn around.
